As a mother I am aware that mother nature puts the developing baby first. During the pregnancy, the mother supplies everything that the growing baby needs. At Coregood, we believe it is imperative to have a plan in place to increase your nutritional reserves, before you fall pregnant.
My goal for you is to support a healthy pregnancy, as well as foetal brain and nervous system development. The nutrients you fuel your body with during pregnancy is significant as it impacts the health status of not only you, but also your growing baby. Of course you can do it, but additional support is required. Not enough people are aware of this or are taking actions to or prevent or remedy the depletion.
Your recovery from pregnancy is also crucial. Postnatal depletion has been described as “a common phenomenon of fatigue and exhaustion combined with a feeling of ongoing ‘baby brain’”. This very different to postnatal depression. Postnatal nutrient depletion can affect all mothers, breastfeeding or not. Over the years in my practice, I’ve seen otherwise healthy women tell me that they feel completely drained, physically, mentally and emotionally. It doesn’t have to be that way.
